“It’s because everyone believes” – David Luiz reveals why every Chelsea player supports Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri is under increasing pressure after his brand of football, promised to take English football by storm, seems to have failed to work midway through his first season in charge.

However, the Italian manager has received backing from his players with David Luiz revealing a dressing room inquiry that gave Sarri the convincing he needed to carry on at the club. Sarri’s job has been on the line for a while now, especially after his side lost 6-0 to Manchester City last Sunday in the Premier League.

The result left Chelsea in sixth position in the standings with Man United and Arsenal leapfrogging them into fourth and fifth respectively. Several reports suggested that the former Napoli head coach had lost his dressing room but Luiz’s words may swing a few opinions.

The Brazil international discloses the entire team have had meetings recently about ‘Sarriball’ with Sarri asking his players if they believed in his idea of playing football. The response he says was unanimously in support of it.

“Yes, [we have an] amazing future. We have had many meetings already asking that if someone doesn’t believe, they can say. Nobody said anything. It’s because everyone believes. The most important thing is for us to keep our philosophy, to believe in what we are doing. We did that against Malmo; we were trying to play from the beginning to the end.

We are doing what he wants us to do and we are trying to improve. It is part of the process. We lost against maybe the best team in the world in Manchester City. They were better than us from the beginning to the end. We lost a few matches because it is part of the process.”
