It’s never a good thing to hear that players at your club are having behind closed doors meetings.
No matter what the conclusions are, no matter how positive the players come out of it, it’s just now what you want going on generally.
Manchester United didn’t need team meetings when they were winning the treble in 1999 because everything was going well. We doubt Barcelona under Pep Guardiola had many either, given the amount of togetherness that was evident in that squad.

So hearing David Luiz come out and admit – on the official Chelsea website no less – this week that the players had been hashing it out behind closed doors was a little worrying.
The subject of the talks was apparently Maurizio Sarri’s style of football, which certainly some fans and pundits are doubting quite severely at the moment.
According to Luiz, the players are all on board with it however, and none stood up to protest at the appropriate moment.
That’s comforting, but the fact they’re all agreeing to go down with the ship doesn’t mean it won’t sink.
We get to see the results of this pow-wow on Monday night against United. Let’s hope it goes so spectacularly well that no more secret gatherings are needed for the rest of the season.
