Chelsea players humiliated by draw with youngsters

Chelsea’s first team players drew a practice match behind the scenes at Cobham according to a report in the Times today.

It’s the latest embarrassing piece of information to leak from Chelsea’s camp this week, as we lurch into our latest disaster.

According to the nation’s paper of record, Maurizio Sarri spoke at length with the players who had taken part in the thrashing by Manchester City, before then sending out those who hadn’t featured – including Willian and Olivier Giroud – to play a warmdown game.

Sarri watched the match, which took place over 4 quarters of 15 minutes.

It won’t have improved the mood in the camp much, but perhaps one of those youngsters will have impressed their stubborn boss enough for him to give them a chance against Malmo on Thursday night.

That would be a great opportunity for those talents, and it’s not like the senior players are doing much to deserve their chance either.
