The one thing Chelsea fans thought they were really likely to see against Malmo was a certain Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The first team had been awful against Manchester City, AND Sarri wanted to rotate his team. Surely the perfect person to benefit from that was the impressive youngster.
Instead, he was left out of the starting team, and the fans on Twitter who want him in the side full time, let alone in these games (which is a large section, if not a majority of Chelsea Twitter) went ballistic.
Why can’t Sarri just give him these minutes? It’s not like he’s a charity case – he’s genuinely impressed almost every chance he’s got. Mystifying.
You can see a selection of the reaction on Twitter here:
Why isn’t Sarri starting Hudson Odoi for this game 🤦🏻♂️

Hi Sarri, if u know you won't be playing Hudson Odoi, let the guy leave for Bayern. It not new to us letting talents leave the Club. Fuck it

With Hudson-Odoi situation, Sarri can't go far. Dude had some game time when Bayern Munich were sniffing around. After transfer window closed CHO can't even start a match. Embarrassing lineup https://t.co/DLfkJSCUkO

so fucking disappointing that even in a game where Sarri feels he could rest Hazard, Hudson-Odoi STILL doesn't game a game. wtf?

Slightly bewildered by the fact Maurizio Sarri has nearly gone with the exact team that got thumped 6-0 to City. No Hudson-Odoi or Ampadu – confused, to say the least. #CFC #UEL

Sarri is making it VERY hard to keep defending him. The club is absolutely the root problem but Sarri is becoming his own damn tree of problems.
Hudson-Odoi & Ampadu are getting treated like absolute dog sh*t. Shameful.

Hudson-Odoi played 214 minutes before Bayern's offer over five months. Then he got the offer and played more than that in a month. Now he is struggling to get anywhere near the pitch again. Only played 13 minutes since the window closed. #CFC #UEL
