Three reasons to be cheerful about Chelsea’s Gonzalo Higuain move

Chelsea’s desperate search for a forward is at an end, and they look to have settled on a loan deal for Gonzalo Higuain. It’s not a universally popular move, but here we’ve picked out three reasons to be cheerful about it:

-It’s just a loan.

The latest Sky Sports reports claim that it’s a loan till the end of the season, with an option to extend that loan another year. That’s perfect. We’re not tied in to a long term contract or paying a transfer fee for an old, rapidly declining, player.

-He can fit in straight away

We needed a short term solution, and we appear to have found one. There are even rumours today that we want him to play against Arsenal on Saturday. That’s only even a possibility because he’s played for Sarri teams before, with great success.

-He can’t be worse than what we have.

In the end, we just need him to come and be better than two striker who are failing miserably. That really won’t be hard, and the bar is set incredibly low. If he bags a few goals between now and the end of the season, he will already be an improvement on Morata and Giroud.
