Senior Chelsea figure already “unconvinced” by big money striker signing

Sky Sports are reporting that Chelsea’s loan offer for Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain has been agreed, and that we’re very close to the move being announced by the club.

That seems like good news, assuming you want us to sign a new striker, but one of the details further down is particularly interesting.

In that very article it claims that Marina Granovskaia is “unconvinced” that the Argentine is the answer to our problems up front – she wouldn’t be the only one, but it’s interesting that she has evidently sanctioned the deal against her better judgement.

Clearly she’s decided to back her manager, who needs a striker and has worked with Higuain before with great success.

Let’s hope for all of our sakes that she’s dead wrong, because this is a big money deal, despite the fact it’s a loan. Higuain is on massive wages, and for all we know there could be additional costs and fees we’re paying behind the scenes.
