Real Madrid set to abandon Eden Hazard and push for £100m rated Tottenham star next summer

Chelsea may be boosted by news that Real Madrid – the Blues’ transfer tormenter-in-chief for the last few months – will abandon plans to sign Eden Hazard and rather take on Tottenham Hotspur for Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark international is one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League and has been one of the reasons Spurs have been consistent over the last few seasons. Mauricio Pochettino plays around the midfielder who helps greatly in ball progression to attacking spaces.

With his talent on show in the same league Real main target, Eden Hazard plays in, Los Blancos have now begun talks with Spurs to sign the 26-year old and ditch plans for the rather unpredictable situation of Hazard, and that’s according to the Independent.

The report says Barcelona were interested in the player in the past before they signed Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool and that leaves the path clear for Real to make a move for Eriksen whose contract ends in the summer of 2020.

Real see Spurs more appropriate to negotiate with considering both situations. Should this plan work out for Santiago Solari’s side, it may force Hazard to sign a new deal at Chelsea and prolong his stay at the club beyond 2020.
