“We need two players” – Maurizio Sarri says Chelsea could finish the January window with two new players

Chelsea’s squad needs beefing up and two more players could join their ranks this month if head coach Maurizio Sarri gets his wishes granted.

The Italian tactician has identified two positions in his squad that need to be bettered and insisted he has told the club of his wishes in the pre-match presser ahead of the Newcastle United clash this weekend. Only Christian Pulisic has been signed by the Blues but even he will arrive next summer after spending the remainder of the season with Borussia Dortmund.

Cesc Fabregas is set to leave the club in the coming days following his agreement over personal terms with AS Monaco, as per Sky Sports. His departure will create a void in midfield, and new cover for Jorginho will be needed.

Asked about the reported deal for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, the Chelsea head coach maintained he wasn’t aware of current negotiations by the club although he revealed he has informed his bosses of the need for two new players.
