Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Nicolo Barella, but they aren’t the only ones who are chasing the youngster.
The midfielder is a key man for Cagliari, and it’s no surprise that there’s plenty of Serie A interest in him.
Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is now reporting that Napoli are very close to completing a deal for the 21 year old, having lost Jorginho to Chelsea in the summer.
Barella has 4 caps for Italy, and plenty of top flight experience already with his hometown club. He looks like the perfect option to strengthen a midfield that has been lacking goals and dynamic attacking threat in recent times.
There are also whispers that we’re interested in Leandro Paredes of Zenit St Petersburg – although it’s unlikely that we’d sign both. It seems we’re just seeing which of them we can secure for a better price, and which will be available to come sooner rather than later.
