Chelsea want signing done by the end of the week after identifying two Fabregas replacements

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing one of two midfield players to replace Cesc Fabregas and want a transfer done by the end of this week.

The Blues have been strongly linked with Cagliari starlet Nicolo Barella, but another player also seems to be on their radar.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as translated by the Metro, Zenit Saint Petersburg’s Argentina international Leandro Paredes is another player on the club’s radar.

The report states Chelsea want this deal done in the coming days as Fabregas nears a move to Monaco, with manager Maurizio Sarri hinting a replacement would be needed.

The piece also suggests CFC would be ready to pay more for the signing of Paredes, 24, who looks a more proven and experienced talent than the highly-rated Barella.

In truth, either player would be very welcome at Stamford Bridge right now, with more options and depth surely needed in the middle of the park.

Chelsea also need to wrap this up quickly in order to focus on this January’s main priority – a new striker!
