“I’ve developed really well. I feel as though I can still improve a lot” – Should fans be patient with struggling Chelsea midfielder?

Ross Barkley had a big headstart this season. As he didn’t go to the World Cup, he was available for Maurizio Sarri from day one of preseason, and he used that time well.

He was at risk of becoming a forgotten man like Danny Drinkwater after featuring only rarely in the second half of last season under Antonio Conte, but a string of early season appearances showed that the new coach liked what he saw.

The England international even had a strong run of goalscoring back in the Autumn, and at times was considered a first team player for Maurizio Sarri.

Shortly after that spell though he fell out of favour, and he’s now back to struggling for first team minutes. More than that, Chelsea fans haven’t been happy with him on the pitch, feeling he plays it too safe in a team struggling for goals.

The midfielder isn’t bothered though, and he feels he’s got more to give. Just check out his quotes from the Chelsea official website today:

“I feel like in a short space of time I’ve developed really well. I feel as though I can still improve a lot. We’re still getting used to our style of play and it’s about repetition on a daily basis on the training pitch and transforming that into the games. It’s going well at the minute.”

So what do we think? Should we be patient with Ross and let him try and improve? Or is the writing on the wall for him as a starter?
