Why hasn’t Chelsea’s move for midfield talent been completed yet?

We all knew Cesc Fabregas was leaving long before it was announced by Monaco two days ago.

He was subbed off against Nottingham Forest and got a farewell ovation from the crowd, and even the game before that he was waving goodbyes.

So what was it that held him back from completing that move? Everyone has assumed that it was because we were lining up a replacement for him, and that still seems the logical answer.

Maurizio Sarri has said himself that he needs a replacement for Cesc, but also that he didn’t know if one was coming.

But if that’s the case, what are we waiting for? Presumably we were holding off on confirming his deal until our own one was ready – so what’s the hold up? At this stage of the season, every day and training session counts, and we could really do with our potential new signing integrating as soon as possible.

Let’s hope the club are just waiting for a quiet Monday to announce it, and we’ll see someone holding a shirt up tomorrow.
