“I don’t think he’s leaving Chelsea” – The wonderkid who is staying to play under Sarri

Derby County took Mason Mount on loan this summer, and Rams boss Frank Lampard has given him plenty of opportunities to play.

The former Chelsea man also was keen on taking Ethan Ampadu, but according to his quotes today, carried on SkySports, show that he’s given up on that for now:

“We have asked [about taking Ampadu on loan], but I don’t think he’s leaving Chelsea,” Lampard said.

“He can play in a few positions, that’s why he would be so valuable to anybody and why he’s staying at Chelsea.”

That’s good for Chelsea fans who want to see Ethan in action in our shirt – especially given Maurizio Sarri name-checked him as one of the players he was counting on should Gary Cahill leave as expected this season.

As great as it would be to see the 18 year old playing 20 or so times in the second half of this season as we would if he went to join Mason in the midlands, seeing him play 5 or 6 games for us will be just as good.
