Gonzalo Higuain is set to join Chelsea on loan from Juventus, with reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming the deal is nearly done.
The Argentina international has been on loan at AC Milan this season but looks set to cut that short now and spend the next six months at Stamford Bridge.
Romano says Higuain is ‘buzzing’ with the move, and explains that the Blues have the option of extending that loan for another season, or just making the move a permanent one.
Agreement reached between #Juventus and #Chelsea for Gonzalo #Higuain! Loan + buy option for 6 months; it can be extended as loan also for one year more (2019/2020 season) if Higuain will get some steps with Chelsea (caps, goals, team targets). 🔵 #CFC #Chelsea #Juve #Milan

This looks like being a hugely important signing for Chelsea, who have looked in need of a quality replacement for Alvaro Morata for some time.
They don’t get much better than Higuain, who has been one of the most prolific players in Serie A and indeed the whole of Europe for the last five years or so.
As well as that, the 31-year-old has played under Maurizio Sarri before so should be ideal to apply the finishing touch to the Italian’s project at Stamford Bridge.
As for Morata, Romano adds that everything is nearly done for the Spain international to join Atletico Madrid, so all in all a good news evening for CFC!
Alvaro #Morata to Atlético Madrid, confirmed. Last details and the agreement is so close. Here we go! 🇪🇸✔️ #CFC #Atletico #Chelsea
