Chelsea’s hopes of shipping our struggling striker hits a snag after Atletico Madrid declare disinterest in permanent signing

Chelsea will have to reenter negotiations with Atletico Madrid as both clubs are far off in their immediate plans for Alvaro Morata.

According to Marca, Atletico are ready to sign the former Real Madrid star but only on a loan deal until the summer and then evaluate the possibility of making a permanent move for him. Chelsea, on the other hand, are willing to only let Morata leave on a permanent deal this month.

The report says Diego Simeone’s side are looking forward to making Morata their first signing of the winter transfer window and will table an initial offer of £8 million this month. Having spent two years at Atletico as a teenager, Morata is reportedly keen to sign for Los Rojiblancos.

Morata has struggled with life in London and in the Premier League, scoring only 16 Premier League goals since his signing from the Spain capital in the summer of 2016.
