Chelsea have been chasing Leandro Paredes of Zenit St Petersburg for a while now, seeing him as a cheaper option to Nicolo Barella, according to this report by the Mirror.
The former Roma man is an impressive midfielder operator, and would replace Cesc Fabregas in the middle of Maurizio Sarri’s team – although he’s a different type of player.
It was yesterday confirmed that Fabregas had joined Monaco, leading some to speculate that a deal was now agreed for a replacement. Argentina international Paredes has now retweeted a “Welcome to Chelsea” compilation video, to really add fuel to the fire.
He may be sending a message to Chelsea fans, or maybe he just liked watching a video of himself balling out. Either way, we look very close to bringing him to the club.
And given the contents of the video in question, it’s not to agree that can only be a good thing.
