Chelsea striker caught up in legal trouble at the worst moment

The Sun were last night reporting that Olivier Giroud had admitted to speeding in his sports car, meaning a ban for the forward who has now accumulated enough penalty points to face a serious sanction.

That kind of off the field issue is the last thing Giroud needs, having recently lost his place in the team once again. Having battled his way past Alvaro Morata into the first team after arriving back late from the World Cup, Giroud then failed to impress himself, and has since been usurped by Eden Hazard playing as a false 9.

With Gonzalo Higuain about to arrive, this little legal trouble couldn’t have come at a worst time. He’s about to have what is probably his last shot at the Chelsea first team, and at 32, maybe his last season at the very top level.

The last thing he needed was off the field problems making his life more difficult.
