Chelsea ready to use Alvaro Morata to complete surprise swap deal transfer

Chelsea are reportedly ready to use Alvaro Morata in a somewhat surprising swap deal for AC Milan striker Andre Silva.

The Portugal international is currently on loan at Sevilla, and Chelsea hope to offer Morata to the La Liga club in a bid to get them to return Silva to Milan, freeing him up for a move to Stamford Bridge, according to the Sun.

The only problem with this is that Silva’s goal record in recent times is arguably even worse than Morata’s.

There’s no question we need a new signing up front this January, but the club needs to be aiming higher than this for such an important position.

Silva, despite long being rated as a promising young talent, is now 23 years of age and has struggled since leaving Porto, where he first caught the eye.

The forward netted only two Serie A goals in 24 games last season, while he’s hardly set the world alight in Spain either, scoring 9 in 23 appearances in all competitions.

Does this really sound like a player who’s going to step up and score 20+ goals a season in the Premier League? It seems highly unlikely.
