Morale at Chelsea has been draining away steadily over the last couple of months, as outlined in this rather chilling piece from Simon Johnson from the Metro.
He says that one player joked with him that he’s not sure manager Maurizio Sarri is even aware of his existence:
“One player was heard joking that he was not sure Sarri “even knows what my name is”.”
That just confirms the worries that a lot of fans have that this reign is turning sour rather quickly. After a long unbeaten run to start the season, games against better opposition have been our downfall, and bad results are reinforcing a worrying bad mood around the place.
The lack of rotation from Sarri was irritating for fans, especially now we’re not in such good form. It clearly is bothering some of the players now too.
Let’s hope that we can get a win tomorrow against Tottenham – that’s all it would take to turn things around when things are so delicately balanced as they are now.
