One of the stars of this season so far has been Declan Rice, who has been one of the key men in West Ham’s return to power.
What’s frustrating for Chelsea fans is that he started out in our academy, before leaving for West Ham at 14.
Now he’s just turned 20 and is making his Premier League breakout. And let’s be honest, Chelsea should bite the bullet and sign him now.
He looks a fantastic player, and in an environment where we are desperately in need of homegrown talent, his price is just going to skyrocket. You would already have to pay something insane like £50m, maybe £70m. West Ham have money and won’t let him go.
But in reality, if we’re about to spend about £30m on a midfielder anyway, why not buy one who’s 4 years younger and homegrown? Instead of buying a Bakayoko, a Drinkwater and now a Barella, why not just actually splash the cash on someone who might be worth it?
