BREAKING: Atlético Madrid enter chase for valuable Chelsea star

The last few days have been full of rumours involving Alvaro Morata.

The fact that he was left out of the squad entirely last night against Tottenham plays into that, as does the way he didn’t celebrate his brace against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

It was Sevilla leading the charge to take the striker off Chelsea’s hands, with the rumours all but confirmed by their director of football Joaquin Caparros in quotes earlier today.

Now reliable Spanish source Antonio Ruiz has thrown a new name into the mix – Atletico Madrid.

It would mean a move to the rivals of his boyhood club, but to be honest, Morata would take a loan to Grimsby at this point if it meant leaving Chelsea.

The Spain international is a hard man to get value because he’s valuable, at least in terms of how much we paid for him, and how much we’re paying him. It’s hard to find clubs willing to risk that kind of cash.

Atleti have Diego Costa struggling to score and Kalinic struggling when he starts. Now they are apparently ready to roll the dice with a loan containing an option to buy.

We’ll see where this one goes…
