Barcelona ready to make shock move for one-goal Chelsea star to beef up their attack -for £13.5m

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud could be set for a shock move to Barcelona if reports in Spain are anything to go by.

The France international has not found life easy in the West London since his move to Chelsea in January 2017, and with his contract winding down fast, Barcelona want to make a move for him as he provides a good alternative to Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

The 32-year old’s contract at Stamford Bridge ends this summer, but the Blues have not yet tabled a new deal which opens the door for the Camp Nou side to enter negotiations for him.

According to Sport in Spain, Barcelona initially wanted to sign Alvaro Morata but with Atletico Madrid jumping ahead in discussions, Ernesto Valverde now wants to make a move for the struggling striker with only one goal this season in the Premier League.

The Mirror say Barcelona may have to pay up to £13.5m for Giroud this month.
