Agent suggests Chelsea could launch raid on PL rivals for key figure

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly an admirer of Watford star Roberto Pereyra, according to the Argentine ace’s agent.

As we continue to compete on multiple fronts this season, January reinforcements could be crucial in helping the Blues sustain their push and to add quality depth where required.

As reported by The Mirror, Pereyra’s agent has suggested that Chelsea could be keen on signing the Watford man as Sarri is said to be a fan of his talents.

“Mazzarri likes him, but so does Sarri. Maxi has great esteem for Mazzarri because he’s a sincere man,” he is quoted as saying in the report.

“A transfer in January? You can never say never in the market, but I tend to exclude it almost categorically. Chelsea also tried, but without success. To Toro in the summer? It would amaze me if they didn’t try again.”

There’s no denying that the 28-year-old is having an impressive season, as he’s scored six goals and provided two assists in 21 appearances to emerge as a key figure for our Premier League rivals.

Nevertheless, although his agent claims that Sarri could be keen on prising him away from Watford, the likelihood of a January deal seems unlikely based on his comments above.

Given our troubles in front of goal in recent weeks though, which have seen us score just five goals in our last six outings across all competitions, perhaps attacking reinforcements this month would be welcome as Pereyra could offer a different dynamic in the final third.
