18-month deal almost struck as Chelsea get breakthrough in chase for striker

Chelsea are on the verge of sealing the deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain this month after reports indicating Juventus have agreed to loan him to Chelsea for 18-months.

The Argentina international currently on loan at AC Milan is a top target for Chelsea as Maurizio Sarri seeks to solve his striking problems. Both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are struggling to find top form at the club, especially this season with only six goals between them in the Premier League.

Now, La Gazzetta Dello Sport says the Blues could complete the deal to land the player after Juventus softened their demands and agreed to let the player leave for a deal worth £48 million. Chelsea will pay £24m up front and then take care of Higuain’s salary for the duration of the one-and-a-half-year loan deal.

Chelsea have not officially responded to the proposal but its clear Marina Granovskaia has been told by her head coach to find a new striker and Higuain may just be their man, as per the Metro.
