“He would be very welcome” – Barcelona players already beginning to talk up Chelsea star’s transfer to Spain

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly ready to return to Spain next summer and has offered himself to one of the country’s top clubs: Barcelona.

Those rumors in Spain have grown wildly in the last week, and now one of the Catalunya club’s stars has spoken out about it. Jordi Alba thinks Morata will be welcome despite having played for Real Madrid in the past and says the Chelsea player will be greeted warmly like ‘all new players’ are.

Morata limped off Chelsea’s Europa League clash with Vidi on Thursday with a suspected knee injury although Maurizio Sarri has played down the length of his reported absence. If the rumors that he could be on his way to Barcelona are true, it will be a great escape for the forward and Alba welcomes it.

“Morata is a player that I appreciate a lot, he has been a top player for many years,’ he said on Thursday. At the end, it’s the club’s [decision] if they want to sign him or not, as with any other player. ‘If the rumours are true, he would be very welcome, as all the new players [are].”

Morata has scored only five goals for Chelsea this season, adding to his 14 in all competitions last campaign. His numbers make it unbelievable that Barcelona want him to replace Luis Suarez, but weirder things have happened in football.
