Maurizio Sarri was asked about David Luiz’ performance against Man City, and of course the Italian was full of praise after a great showing.
Sarri pretty much interrupted the questioner, saying:
“I’m really happy with him from the beginning,” emphasising that he wasn’t just happy that the Brazilian had played exceptionally well against City, keeping a clean sheet and scoring the second goal, but that despite the criticism, he was happy with Luiz’ performances through the whole season.
The former PSG defender has come in for widespread criticism recently, so a heavy vote of confidence like this will only help him.
