Could it be third time lucky for Lukaku at Chelsea?

Romelu Lukaku came to Chelsea once. He signed as a kid, had a few successful loans, realised he wasn’t going to cut it at the Bridge, and moved away.

Then, two summers ago, with Diego Costa forcing an exit from Chelsea and Lukaku looking ready to leave Everton, it all looked as though it had lined up perfectly for his second chance to make his name in West London.

In the end, however, he chose Manchester United, and Chelsea went for Alvaro Morata instead. That hasn’t worked out well, and we now find ourselves – for what seems like the tenth year in a row – looking for a new number nine.

Lukaku’s United move hasn’t worked out for him, or for them. After a bright start, his goals have dried up, and recently he’s not been in the team at all at times.

It looks like they might be ready to cut their losses on him. Dare we try our luck a third time? The odds on a Chelsea move for the Belgian are tumbling… surely not?
