“Sometimes I feel unhappy at Atletico” – Chelsea should launch bid for excellent midfielder

This time of year is usually full of nonsense rumour, so it’s always nice to have some nice solid quotes to go on.

That’s what we have here from Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey. He’s been talking to the press in Spain about how he feels sitting on the bench for a lot of games.

The signing of Rodri from Villareal has really blocked Partey’s progress into the first team, just as he was starting to become a regular for Diego Simeone.

His quotes make it clear that the situation isn’t ideal:

“Sometimes I feel unhappy at Atlético. You have to play in the important games to feel happy, to feel stronger and more confident,” he said yesterday in quotes listed by AS.

Chelsea are stocked with midfielders at the moment, but their midfield balance is totally off. If we decide to not keep Mateo Kovacic at the end of this season, Partey might be the perfect replacement.

He won’t come cheap – but if he continues to miss games he will be pushing for an exit himself, and wouldn’t be out of our range at all.
