Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s stats show why Sarri might choose him ahead of Kovacic

Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring for Chelsea yesterday, and that goal really brought up some impressive stats.

Take this one below, from Sky Sports, which brings up the fact that it’s his 6 in 7 games for the Blues – helped of course by that hat-trick against BATE.

That just goes to show how rich the vein of form he’s in, especially when compared to the 4 he’d managed in whole of his career so far.

But perhaps even more impressive was what Nizaar Kinsella noted – that that goal makes Ruben Chelsea’s third top scorer all season.

Eden Hazard has 8 – with two of those from penalties.

Alvaro Morata has 7 – and he’s a striker.

While Ruben now has 6. Yes his hat-trick against weak opposition distorts that, but so does the fact he’s played a handful of games compared to everyone else.

That goalscoring streak is something that really benefits a midfield 3 with Kante and Jorginho as its other members, and that could be his route to a start in the future.
