Why Ruben Loftus-Cheek should start against Wolves tonight

Ruben Loftus-Cheek should start against Wolves later today.

There have been rumours this week that he will decide whether to stay at Chelsea or push for a loan move this January depending on whether he is picked, but that shouldn’t come into it.

The fact is, he’s done more than enough to merit a Premier League start, especially with Ross Barkley doubtful and manager Maurizio Sarri looking to rotate ahead of the Manchester City game.

Even if he still prefers Mateo Kovacic as the third man in midfield with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, he should give this opportunity to Ruben, who has shown the attacking flair and eye for goals we need, even in his brief cameos.

Against a Wolves team who will likely look to play on the counter, Kante and Jorginho give us plenty of stability. RLC will be the perfect man to make runs to join with the front 3, and use his physicality to break the lines of the opposition.

Kovacic may be the man for a more tight and tactical game against Pep Guardiola’s team at the weekend. Let’s unleash Ruben on Wolves and see how he does.
