Only one Chelsea player named in European Team of the Week

David Luiz’ superb showing against Manchester City has earned him a spot in Italian footie paper the Gazzetta Dello Sport’s team of the week.

You can see the full lineup above, with Luiz making up one of the centre-backs in a particularly Italian 343 formation that the creator has chosen.

Often Luiz seems to be more appreciated abroad than in England, but that’s not necessarily the case here.

Let’s not forget he won the official Sky Man of the Match award, and has since been praised from all corners.

The other two Premier League representatives were Mo Salah (he got a hattrick, so fair enough), and Felipe Anderson, who’s really impressing at West Ham.

While Luiz’ place is well deserved, you have to wonder why he’s the only one in there. Man City are perhaps the best team in Europe right now and we beat them. Could we not have squeezed a Rudiger or an Azpi in with David?
