Why a move for Edinson Cavani makes perfect sense for Chelsea

Chelsea need a striker. That much is clear.

It’s been too many windows of failure in a row. Since Diego Costa arrived we’ve seen Michy Batshuayi, Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud all arrive and struggle, as well as potential deals for superstars like Gonzalo Higuain fall through.

The players we have don’t look up to it. The youngsters out on loan are hardly pushing hard for Premier League starts. So we’re left with the transfer market, where we’ve been burned on forwards so many times before.

The Metro are among the sources saying that Maurizio Sarri has made Edinson Cavani his top target, and that’s a rumour that has a strange air of plausibility.

PSG have a wealth of top forwards, and it doesn’t look like the Uruguayan likes being in the shadow of both Neymar AND Kylian Mbappe.

His tough, hard running style could be perfect for the Premier League, and he’s still got a lot to prove.

Could he be the ready made striker we’ve been looking for all this time to slot into this team and make it complete?
