Why it makes sense that Chelsea will spend £20million on new Cesar Azpilicueta replacement

Since the early days of last summer when the rumors began that Maurizio Sarri would be the next Chelsea manager, reports from Italy have linked the Blues with several Napoli stars, although it is only Jorginho who moved with the tactician to London.

One name that has remained in the rumor mill though is Elseid Hysaj. The right fullback was a key cog in Sarri’s setup in Naples. He was a solid rock at the back and moved forward well when Napoli shifted gear in attack, and according to a report by the Sun via the Express, Chelsea would like to bring him in for £20 million to reunite with his former boss.

Davide Zappacosta has been the deputy for Cesar Azpilicueta this season, but the Italy international has barely had a sniff at first-team football. He is kept on the bench with Sarri preferring to go with Chelsea’s deputy captain almost every game.

Hysaj remains one of the most important players at Napoli and would add quality to the Blues back four if a deal is firmed up. He would be a significant addition to Sarri’s squad and could boost our chances of winning silverware this season especially if Zappacosta follows up on his wish to leave the club in January for more minutes.
