Italian journalist explains why Chelsea will pay €45m for top Sarri target

Chelsea are interested in a new right back, and according to quotes translated by SportWitness, they’re close to landing one.

Journalist Emanuee Cammaroto seems to have some insider info on the potential move of Elseid Hysaj to Stamford Bridge, even down to predicting exactly what the transfer fee will be:

“Hysaj is on the way out… All that’s left is to know if it’ll happen in June or January. The potential summer ban for Chelsea could make the negotiations start suddenly, but Napoli want the €50m from the clause and not a penny less. The agent will try around €40m, but in the end they’ll meet in the middle at €45m,” he is recorded as saying with regards to the Albanian.

Cesar Azpilicueta put in a superb showing against Manchester City at the weekend, but has generally not been himself this season, and will do well to have some proper competition in the squad. Davide Zappacosta has been unable to unseat the Spaniard despite the latter’s poor form, which perhaps tells you everything you need to know.

Hysaj is a dynamic player who will be able to slot into Maurizo Sarri’s system straight away as one of his former players. This one looks pretty likely, and as Cammaroto says, it’s becoming more a question of “when” than “if”.
