“He is of interest” – Chelsea coach confirms Blues want to sign eight-goal Premier League striker

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has been confirmed a target for the Blues in the upcoming January transfer window.

Both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have not provided the Blues technical team any hope of an upsurge and continue to battle underscore their evaluation cards. With only six league goals between them and the rest of the Chelsea teammates struggling to score goals consistently, Sarri is hoping to land another striker in the January window.

Bournemouth’s Wilson has been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch after scoring eight goals in the Premier League this season. Ahead of their EFL Cup third round clash on Wednesday, assistant coach Zola confirms Chelsea are interested in signing the 26-year old but may face a battle land him as other clubs have also shown interest following the striker’s recent top form.

“I’m sure that there are a lot of players that are linked with us. Certainly Callum Wilson is doing very well for his club and he is of interest, not just for us, but for many.

He’s strong, fast, and he sees the goal. I like him because he’s quick, but also strong in the air, which is a very important quality. But I don’t want to go too much into it. He’s doing very well. I’m pleased for him. He has a lot of qualities that can take him a long way.”

Wilson is currently valued at £40m after signing a new four-year deal at the Vitality stadium.
