Chelsea set to return to Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas replacement but face complicated negotiations

Chelsea are set to return to Barcelona for a replacement for Cesc Fabregas if the central midfield playmaker leaves the club in January or next summer.

According to reports in England, the Spain international is not happy about the Blues’ policy to award players over the age of 30 with only one-year contracts and may explore his options available to him in January. His current deal at Stamford Bridge ends next summer.

Calciomercato says AC Milan are keen to snap up Fabregas as part of their rebuilding plan at the San Siro.

Now Goal says, Maurizio Sarri’s first choice to replace the experienced playmaker is Denis Suarez and the former Villareal midfielder’s struggles at the Camp Nou has opened up the chance to sign him next summer. However, the Blues may be told by the player that he is ready to fight for his place in Ernesto Valverde’s squad as he faces competition from Arthur and Arturo Vidal for a starting berth.

Jorginho has made the position in deep-lying midfield his own and the capture of Suarez will only mean the Barcelona man finds a spot up front in the midfield three or settles as a deputy to the Italian pass master.
