The Sun has linked Chelsea with one of the most unlikely transfer deals of the winter so far – a move for Alvaro Morata to Barcelona.
They claim that the Catalan club is so desperate for backups to Luis Suarez, who has struggled with injuries this season, that they will consider former Real Madrid man Morata.
The forward has been pretty much a disaster for Chelsea since signing for huge money two summers ago. A bright start quickly faded, and since then it’s basically been doom and gloom all the way.
The fantasy that a club like Barcelona might want him – and that they might pay back some of the insane fee we shelled out for him – is unrealistic right now.
But stranger things have happened, and both Barca and Real are known for the occasional big of January madness.
Could we end up being the beneficiaries this time? We really really hope so.
