Chelsea “confident” of confirming £30m January signing

Chelsea are “confident” of signing Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, according to reports in the Sun today.

The forward has been in great form for the Cherries this season, and looks to have all the skills to play up front for Maurizio Sarri.

That means enough pace to run in behind, the technique to link up nicely with Eden Hazard and the other attackers, and the work rate to lead the press from the front.

There’s also another huge bonus to signing him – he’s a home grown English player.

Chelsea could lose a lot of those vital HG players in the coming windows, with Danny Drinkwater, Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill and more all looking close to the exit.

So Wilson would not only fit the bill tactically for Chelsea, he would also tick a lot of boxes logistically too.

£30m is a lot of money – but would it be too much? If Wilson solved our problems up front for a couple of years, it wouldn’t feel like it.
