Why Chelsea are behind Man United in race for Brazil international

Chelsea are in the race for the latest Porto cash cow, according to reports in The Sun.

The English tabloid are today claiming that the 20 year old defender is a prime target for the Blues, who are clearly on the lookout for new talent at the back, with Gary Cahill and David Luiz coming to the end of their careers.

Militao only arrived in the north of Portugal this summer from Sao Paolo, but he’s already looking like he’s the real deal and ready to be snapped up by a European giant.

He’s settled straight into the Dragons first team, playing in 14 league games and every minute of their Champions League campaign, even picking up a goal last week against Schalke.

The debut Brazil cap he picked up at the start of the season will only have boosted his price tag further.

The Sun say that Manchester United are another interested party, and given they’re even more desperate than us for a defender, it might be tough to match what they’re willing to pay.
