Cesc Fabregas has Premier League audition for Jorginho role

Cesc Fabregas has clearly been earmarked by Maurizio Sarri as the man to fill in for Jorginho. We’ve seen it already in the cup competitions, albeit against pretty poor opposition, but last night marked his first Premier League start filling in for the Italian.

We all know Cesc has the necessary quality on the ball, and the stats back that up. Stats site WhoScored have him down for 75 passes, with 5 long balls. Only one of those was accurate.

He did hit a couple of lovely chips forward, but his style is just not that similar to the former Napoli man.

Ultimately, it’s going to prove pretty impossible for Fabregas to unseat Jorginho from the first team, given he’s just not got the same juice in his legs anymore. But the way he can easily fill in shows exactly why Sarri considers him such a vital member of the squad, even in these games.
