Antonio Rudiger’s ridiculous passing stats against Brighton

Chelsea played high up the pitch against Brighton, and their defenders had a lot of the ball.

Antonio Rudiger had more than anyone on the pitch, and he was also given tons of time on the ball to pick passes forward.

Brighton barely pressured him in the game, and that was reflected in the numbers of long passes he was able to play.

Whoscored have him down as playing 9 long passes,  5 accurate, way more than anyone else on the team. He also played the most passes of anyone in the game.

David Luiz is often the one left to spray the ball out, but perhaps the increased attention that our opposition were giving him meant his German colleague had more time to play it out.

His versatility is truly a blessing, and we can only imagine the potential of this team should we sign more players who are as well suited to this system as he is.
