Alvaro Morata’s days at Chelsea are numbered after decision to offload him in January is made by club’s board

After 16 games in the Premier League this season, Alvaro Morata has scored only five times and failed to convince the club’s top officials he is worth keeping until the end of the season with reports in Spain suggesting Chelsea will send him out on loan in January.

Morata has not discovered his scoring boots at Chelsea since his signing in the summer of 2016. His 11 goals were not deemed enough by Chelsea fans last season and the pressure to build on that heightened after a dry spell in pre-season and the ongoing campaign. He has cut a frustrated figure at times in games in England and clearly does not fit the bill of the top class striker Chelsea have been used to in the past.

But now according to COPE in Spain, via the Express, Chelsea’s top brass have gone past Maurizio Sarri in making a decision on the forward’s future. They want him out of the club only temporarily as a loan move stands top of their options in the winter transfer window.
