It was what we had all been waiting for – the game where Callum Hudson-Odoi showed that he’s ready for the top level.
But in quotes you can see below, Maurizio Sarri made sure that his young charge isn’t getting carried away. In fact, in classic Sarri style, he took more time to correct his mistakes than praise his successes:
Sarri says he wants Hudson-Odoi to produce in a match with defensive responsibilty next: "He played very well, but the type of match was for his characteristics. So they were down to 10 men after seven minutes, so we needed only to play in the offensive phase." #CFC #CFCvPAOK

It’s kind of great to have a coach who’s not going to gush. The wonderkid has just picked up a goal and an assist in his second career senior start, and yet the gaffer is reminding us of the context of the game.
He doesn’t deny him the credit he’s due though, and says he “played very well”. He just wants to keep him humble and growing – and we’re all in favour of that.
CHO is clearly a brilliant attacking talent. We’ve known that for a long time now. If he can be turned into a tactically smart workaholic too, so much the better.
