Maurizio Sarri breaks Premier League record despite disappointing result

Chelsea may have drawn with Everton at Stamford Bridge, but they did at least achieve one impressive record.

By  avoiding defeat against the Toffees, Maurizio Sarri continued his unbeaten run as a new Premier League boss into it’s twelfth gameweek.

The Italian coach has not lost as Blues manager, unless you include the Community Shield against Manchester City, which took place not long after he’d just arrived at the club.

That means he now has the standalone record for the most games unbeaten at the start of a Premier League season.

In the end, the Blues should have more than just a record – they should have had three points. Some really impressive saves from Jordan Pickford and some chances skimming off the post prevented this record from being even more impressive.

For all the applause Sarri deserves for that great run, there’s another stat that’s a little more pertinent: three draws from the last four games at home.
