Mateo Kovacic speaks about future at Chelsea once again

It’s the international break, so inevitably players are being asked some more tough questions by the media form their home countries.

Mateo Kovacic is with Croatia, and they face England at Wembley on Sunday, so inevitably he’s been asked about the future he has in the country. As he always has been when asked about these matters, he’s been very neutral on the matter, while also hinting that he’s very happy at Chelsea and would be open to staying.

“I wanted to be happy and at Chelsea I am, I just wanted to be happy and play matches, feel a responsibility within the team and I’ve found that at Chelsea,” the midfielder is quoted as saying by Football.London.

He’s facing tough competition for his place at Stamford Bridge, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley now often the preferred options for Maurizio Sarri, but he’s still playing a lot more than he was in Madrid, and seems like he’d be happy to move permanently.

While he’s not getting drawn on the subject yet, he is clearly putting out the message that he’s interested in remaining with us.
