Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has jokingly pointed at Dejan Lovren as the reason fellow title hopefuls Liverpool will not win the competition this season.
Manchester City are the overwhelming favorites to win the league this season after blowing their opponents off the race in the last campaign. Also, their start to this current 9-month marathon has been by far the best of the real contenders. Liverpool seem closest to Pep Guardiola’s side after 12 matches into the season as both sides continue their unbeaten starts.
Chelsea are the third side in the standings with Maurizio Sarri’s side also without a defeat so far but bad results in recent weeks have reduced their chances. Kovacic however, has a had a keen look at the title race and makes a bold claim about who can topple Man City.
Kovacic says Liverpool will not be that team and specifically warns Jurgen Klopp to be wary of his weak link, Lovren.
“Liverpool will not be English champions. Why? Because they have Dejan Lovren.”
