“Hopefully they can win the Premier League” – Fernando Torres chooses which former club he wants to win the Premier League title

Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has made a huge statement over the club he wants to see lift the Premier League trophy this season between the Blues and Liverpool.

Having signed for Chelsea in January 2011, Torres quickly became a popular figure in West London despite failing to score as many goals as he did for his former side Liverpool. It was at Anfield he made his name in English football, scoring crucial goals for Rafa Benitez’s side in his early seasons.

It is not strange though that the former Spain international has called Liverpool to win the Premier League title this campaign ahead of Chelsea.

“At Chelsea there are still some team-mates that I played with but at Liverpool there is nobody there – only Alberto Moreno, who I played with at the national team.

I am still in touch with the staff though so I wish them all the best. I know how important it is for Liverpool to win the Premier League. Hopefully they can win the Premier League and Chelsea can win it the year after.”

Both clubs are chasing Manchester City in the title race in a hotly contested race that has seen a trio of clubs go unbeaten in the first 12 games of the season for the first time in the history of the top flight.

Torres though has his choice and tells Chelsea fans to wait until Liverpool win another title since they won it in 1990.
