Ethan Ampadu backed after controversial incident in Wales game

Ethan Ampadu has been backed by his captain after an incident on international duty with Wales.

Despite barely playing for Chelsea this season, the midfielder has become an important part of Ryan Giggs’ Wales team.

He came on as a sub in the second half of last night’s Nations League game against Denmark, and was sent flying into the advertising hoardings by a bad tackle from Kasper Dolberg.

Not long after, Ethan got his revenge, earning a yellow card in the process.

His captain Ashley Williams backed him though, saying that the 18 year old “did what he needed to do” in getting some sweet revenge on fellow wonderkid Dolberg.

His manager Ryan Giggs thought it was a “cheap shot” too, and had no problem with the youngster getting his own back.

It’s great to see Ethan playing, although we’d prefer him to be starting, and hopefully this show of character will keep him in Giggs’ thinking.
