English wonderkid names odd former Chelsea player as Bundesliga standout

Jadon Sancho, the English starlet tearing it up at Borussia Dortmund, has been speaking about his experiences playing in the Bundesliga, and when mentioning the stars of the division, he brought up a former Chelsea man who has faded from memory pretty quickly.

“Even in the Bundesliga there are some top players. Like the other day I was playing against Salomon Kalou. If you have seen his career, he has been at the top,” Sancho is quotes as saying by Football.London.

Now there’s a name we haven’t heard in some time!

Kalou was a funny player, capable of the sublime and the ridiculous. He was rarely able to hold down a starting spot for long, but remained a useful squad player under several manager.

The likable but ultimately very frustrating attacker ultimately took his talents to Lille in 2012, swapping places with Eden Hazard who went the other way.

Since 2014 though he’s been at Hertha Berlin, keeping up a steady career, and always turning up for the Ivory Coast, for whom he’s banged in 28 goals in 97 appearances.
