Chelsea star denies January transfer could be on the cards

It’s the international break again, which can mean only one thing for some players: creating stories by chatting to the media in their home country.

Nobody has done more of that than Andreas Christensen, who has spent the last couple of these pauses speaking to the Danish press about his unhappiness about the lack of minutes he’s currently getting at Chelsea, and this week is no exception.

Despite the fact that he’s been playing regularly in the cups, the defender’s breakout season in the first team last campaign means he’s no longer satisfied with that role, and his comments recorded on the Sky Sports website say as much:

“Difficult question. No, I don’t think so,” the Dane said of whether he could leave the club this winter.

“Things are different from last season. I played a lot of games (last season) but this season it hasn’t been like that. It’s always difficult for a player but we’ll see what happens.”

It seems as though he’s keeping his options open, but also looking to increase the pressure of Maurizio Sarri. That’s a perfectly sound strategy, and if he feels being second string at our club isn’t good enough, we should respect that decision.
